He has been described as "effortlessly conjur darkness". Lovell is currently preparing for his for European stage of his tour with his first show in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The untapped potential of the now 19 year old should surely be noted, keep the kid on your radar and keep an eye out for more Canadian talent to emerge.His musical style is often categorized by its dark and atmospheric sound. In a recent interview with No Jumper, he mentions how Ottawa, which is a more politcally symbolic city, artists feel that there isn’t a platform in which they can be successful. He continues to be an inspiration to young Canadians, and others around the globe showing you can make it in despite any circumstances. The Ottawa native intends to put his city on the map, and wants to do it his own way.

On top of another excellent tape, Lovell embarked on his own world tour, 1855 , which sold out cities across Canada and multiple US venues. This tape shows no signs of a ‘one hit wonder’ by any means with great tracks such as “Contraband,” “Still Cold / Pathway Private” and “Louis V”. The success his first mixtape maintained hype around the young rapper even despite the lack of interviews and general information on who he is as an artist. Fast-forward to 2016, the lowkey Lovell drops his highly anticipated follow up mixtape, Red Teenage Melody. Standout tracks such as “Trees From the Valley,” “Off Air,” and “Live Television” are all produced by Lovell himself and follow suit to arguably his best track, “Dark Light”. His dense, heavy voice hits you hard as nails with an easy back pocket flow. The track ‘Dark Light’ showcases Lovell’s best talents. Well received producers in the scene are also noted in his early works such as Fifty Grand (TeamSesh member) and Bine. From there its been nothing but success for the young Canadian rapper. He recorded it over a previously made beat and shot a video for it the very next day. This track showcases his brutally dark delivery and his impressively smooth flow. Lovell who was only 17 at the time of release says he wrote the song one day in English class. The first song ever released was titled “Dark Light” which was put out under his new name Night Lovell. So it wasn’t until he gained some confidence from the success of his work, that he would begin recording his own songs. In his early stages, the Canadian rapper primarily produced for himself, which in turn created his identity as an artist.īefore Lovell started rapping, he started out exclusively as a producer going by the name KNLV. Known artists in the underground scene took note of his talents, most notably Chris Travis who used KNLV’s beat on the track “ Memphis To LA” back in May of 2014. This recognition perhaps influenced the young artist to start making his own music, something he always wanted to do. As a kid in highschool, he claimed to be awkward, shy and lowkey often keeping to himself.
